Integrated Payment Service -
IPS Explained In Detail

Welcome to the MerchantIPS Integrated Payment Service (IPS), powered by the Authorize.Net™ Payment Gateway and SecureSourceSM Merchant Account payment processing solution. For a list of glossary terms and definitions that are relevant to this discussion, please click on the link to the Glossary Page.

The Authorize.Net Payment Gateway and SecureSource Merchant Account (the MerchantIPS system) is an integrated, complete system that allows you to accept, authorize, process, and settle credit card and electronic check transactions online. The Integrated Payment Service is not a business checking or savings account. IPS does, however, allow your company to have captured funds deposited directly to your business checking account through the SecureSource Merchant Account service.

This INTEGRATED Solution Provides:

  • Rapid enrollment and activation of your Authorize.Net and SecureSource account via real-time decisioning.
  • Accept and process both credit card and electronic check payments.
  • Increased sales through our integrated payment options.
  • Customised and configurable online reporting interface.
  • Direct deposit transactions into the checking account of your choice.
  • No matter how you process payments, we have a solution for you.

What Types of Transactions
Can IPS Process?

1. MANUAL ORDER TRANSACTIONS: THE VIRTUAL TERMINAL

Virtual Terminal is a secure, browser-based interface that enables you to manually enter your customer and order information to securely accept, process, and settle online payments using any computer that has an Internet connection and a Web browser. Examples of these types of transactions include: mail, telephone, and fax orders, and recurring billing. (read more ...)

Virtual Terminal - Integrated Payment Service: Accept orders via phone, fax, or mail.
A Customer phones, faxes, or mails in order information to the Merchant using a Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, or Discover® credit card -- or an electronic check (eCheck).
The Merchant manually enters the Customer's payment information into the Virtual Terminal feature of the Authorize.Net Merchant Interface. The Merchant may also upload a file with payment information via the Merchant Interface's Upload Transaction File feature. (The Upload Transaction File feature of the Virtual Terminal allows you to upload a file containing multiple transactions to the Payment Gateway, providing a quick solution for recurring and high-volume transaction processing.)
Whether via the Virtual Terminal or Upload File feature, the Customer's payment information is transmitted securely to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway and SecureSource Risk Assessor for fraud screening and authorization.
The authorization (or decline) response is returned via the Authorize.Net Merchant Interface to the Merchant.

2. WEB-BASED ORDER TRANSACTIONS: AIM & SIM INTEGRATION METHODS

The Simple Integration Method (SIM) and Advanced Integration Methods (AIM) are two secure connection methods for linking your web-based business to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway. Using either AIM or SIM, you can accept, authorize, process, and settle online payments directly from your Website.

Our integration methods are genuine AIM and SIM, and not the AIM emulation and SIM emulation that merchants are getting from potentially less reliable merchant account and payment gateway providers. Our systems use the genuine AIM and SIM methods.

We can work directly with your Web developer to ensure that the integration is done correctly, and to help you find a shopping cart system that will work seemlessly with the IPS system. Examples of these types of transactions include: Web site sales, eBay auctions, and other sales transaction processes that take place via the Internet.

Your Web site developer can use simple forms and customised code to directly and securely interact with the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway and IPS system using AIM (Advanced Integration Method) and SIM (Simple Integration Method). Most leading shopping carts are already integrated with the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway. Check with your Web developer regarding questions about shopping carts and web hosting.

Integrating your website directly to Authorize.Net:

  • Advanced Integration Method [PDF 1MB] (AIM) is the preferred Authorize.Net integration solution, and uses secure sockets layer (SSL) digital certificate technology to connect securely and directly to the Payment Gateway—achieving the highest security for the Internet connection between a merchant and the gateway.

  • Simple Integration Method [PDF 1.2MB] (SIM) optimizes the security, encryption, and authentication of transactions for merchants that do not have an SSL digital certificate.

AIM and SIM provide the highest levels of secure transaction infrastructure available to merchants building an e-commerce business and directly connecting their website to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway.

Advanced Integration Method and Simple Integration Method - Integrated Payment Service: Accept, authorize, process, and settle orders securely from your website.
A Customer goes to the Merchant's website to place an order. The Customer enters their payment information (Visa®, MasterCard®, American Express®, Discover®, or eCheck) into the Merchant's payment form page. Once the Customer hits submit, their order information is transmitted securely to the Authorize.Net Payment Gateway and SecureSource Risk Assessor for fraud screening and authorization.
The authorization (or decline) response is returned via Authorize.Net to the customer at the merchant's website. This process averages less than 3 seconds roundtrip!
